Hi Everyone, I'm a dual US/Canadian citzen. I immigrated to Canada in early 1984 and have lived there since except for a few years when I was doing my doctorate in New York City (Union Theological Seminary). I was born in '57, so that means I've lived almost half my life, and nearly my whole adult life, in Canada. Except for my husband, the rest of my family lives in the Midwest and South. I teach religion and culture and comparative religious ethics at Saint Mary's University in Halifax.

My research for the last couple of years has been about the new alliances formed among progressive religious folk of all faiths. That's how I was drawn into the Obama campaign. I drove down to Pittsburgh for the Penn primary to participate in the ground game when classes ended in the Spring. One of the best moments for me was the faith outreach on the Sunday before the vote. I went to this tiny African American church and was met with such a warm reception. I read them a letter from Barack, and they were thrilled.
I'm pretty swamped with work this summer, so I don't think I'll have another chance to campaign that directly again.

I don't recall exactly when I got hooked on The Field. I lived several years in a rural area of Nova Scotia, so I was interested in a site that kept rural issues in view. Chicken Little innoculations have saved my sanity!

And another welcome for you, Nancie! Great to have you with us. I can't really add anything to Nancy and Tony's excellent words of encouragement, except that each and every comment, idea, suggestion, criticism, etc. is welcome, except for the infamous Chicken Little behaviour Al is training us all out of...

Oh, and the introduction Nancy mentions below can be simple. Anything you want us to know about you is great, but a good start can be just a little more about your location, your nationality--if it's not obvious, and your history with The Field.

You may or may not know that Al is organising a posse to blog and report on Denver. One way we're trying to help is to find media outlets overseas that might be interested in getting free grassroots coverage in exchange for media credentials. And we're still looking for other ways we can contribute from across the globe.

Finally, don't hesitate to ask if you need technical support for anything here. Somebody's bound to have an answer and be happy to help. Welcome aboard...

Hi Nancie, on the East Coast, from Nancy on the West Coast, and welcome to Fieldhands Abroad (seven Canadians now: woohoo!)

Check out the Comment Wall where some of us have already introduced ourselves and/or added our thoughts and ideas on the race and what we can do to help, and feel free to do so as well...
