Personally, I would recommend having a laptop or other computer out that people can use to donate directly to the campaign, or have people pledge to donate through the event listing on my.barackobama.com. If you think that wouldn't work, I can ask and see how they want to bundle money or checks.

Ian, as a Fellow, do you have a contact in WA that might be helpful for fundraising questions? I am planning a fundraiser here at my house in Redmond but I need some guidance from the campaign on exactly how to collect the monies.

Thanks.

Ian, congratulations on becoming a Fellow. In response to your question on the main Fieldhands Comment Wall, I'd say the best way to test interest is just to start the group up and see who shows up.

And maybe Al wouldn't mind too much if you post a short comment on The Field to alert the troops.

Love your quotations. My bit of inspiration for the day...
"Whatever is your aim let virtue be the condition of the attainment of your aim, and know that without this all possessions and pursuits are dishonorable and evil." -Plato, Menexenus

"Courage charms us, because it indicates that a man loves an idea better than all things in the world, that he is thinking neither of his bed, nor his dinner, nor his money, but will venture all to put in act the invisible thought of his mind." -Ralph Waldo Emerson, Journals

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as Freedom should not be highly rated." -Thomas Paine, The American Crisis, Volume 1

The Organizing Fellowship and Myself

I wrote this up for a separate blog that I'd intended to use to record my six weeks in the Organizing Fellowship this summer, something I was moved to do by comments on The Field -- and as we now have this handy little thing here, I thought it might be best to move it here. If no one minds, I'd like to continue doing things like this over the weeks to come. So, without further ado, a brief introduction to myself and my motivations.
