Hi Caroline! Welcome! When you have time, go back to the Field and read some of the posts from about 2 weeks ago.
In a nutshell, however, most of us found Al and "The Field" sometime in the Primary Season via a link to a website called ruralvotes.com. Al was a "guest blogger" on that site to help drive traffic to it. Turned out, Al was the #1 draw to that site! Al is a seasoned and experienced political journalist, and his posts are intelligent and kept us all sane during the primaries.
Al was given press credentials through ruralvotes.com to attend the Denver Convention. Al wasn't getting rich by writing for ruralvotes.com, and we, the People, donated money to ruralvotes. specificially to "Send Al to Denver".
Well, ruralvotes.com decided one day that Al was "too radical" for their site and immediately censored him. As of this writing, they still have his credentials, and have been kinda slow refunding the peoples' money that was specifically for Al.
Well--we the People, after Al moved his blog to another site, followed him, got even bigger and better, and are well on our way to raising even more money to send Al to Denver AND buy him a new MacBook---because we love Al and he loves us back!
Meanwhile, we are petitioning the DNC to give Al credentials, because they were given to him in the first place, and he deserves them. We can't wait for ruralvotes.com to do the right thing.
We are: the People!
Hope that helps...and sign the petition--you can remain anonymous if need be!
