This Fieldhands site needs a Welcome Wagon

Hey folks,

Noticing that pretty much daily new Fieldhands are signing up but many are not posting images, I wonder if some veteran Fieldhands might form a "Welcome Wagon" committee to contact each one with a welcome message (via ning.com's private message function) containing some basic info about how to use the site and clear instructions for how to upload an avatar.

Any volunteers want to step up on this one. It would take merely a few minutes a day and, I think, increase the sense of commun… Continue

The Field has Moved

Fellow and Sister Field Hands,

For very interesting reasons, The Field has moved to a new and better location:

Al,

I am working on getting you into HQ, no promises, but I am trying :)

Also trying to get Chris Hughes word of the event in Chi-town.....I was lucky enough to have lunch with him once, and we talked about this exact thing and what would happen to mybo after the election.

Just heard this announced on NPR from WAMC in New York, got online and found your message. I've sent a message to everyoine in my group to see who might want to go and cover the event. I am excited to give it a try and hope others can join me. My wife Julia is a Fellow in Keene, and now I know why she was cryptic and there was so much noise going on at the HQ when I called earlier in the day.

I will let you know more when we can confirm.

Al, do you have any way to reach out to rikyah? I'm not sure she made the move and I'd like to see her join us.

Hi Al,

I appreciate everything you're doing. It must take most of your time to not only write, but grow a thriving, intelligent, and respectable community as well. It's impressive.

I hope to find some way to make it to Denver. If I do, I hope to meet you and all the other Field Hands present.

Hi Al,

My wife Natasha (also a Fieldhand) discovered your blog some time ago, and I've been spreading the word about your site ever since. I guess I'll have to make sure all my friends know The Field is at Narco News now.

By way of self-introduction, Natasha and I are both assistant professors at UCLA in the department of Asian Languages and Cultures. If you ever find yourself in L.A., please do shoot me a message. I'd love to have drinks with you.

Best,
Jack

Al,
I thought I was really freaked by the synchronicity of this technology - but when you refer to Andrew Kopkind ( his dad Bernie, was one of MY dad's best friends in New Haven), and I kinda try to 'drop out' leaving years in New York, London, Washington DC by moving into a little rented cabin in the WOODS of Chesterfield VT - and find myself deeper involved than ever.
Kinda have to smile.
BTW: If you ever visited Vertigo Books south of DuPont Circle in Washington DC, the owner is now HERE:Bob Willig owns Troubadour Books in Whately - &, oh, yes, also BTW, his wife is a good friend of Super Deb!
Jeez - the world better get ready for all of us.
Thanks for ALL the great work you do. Someday would like to 'connect' you with Lisa McGowan, friend who started the Fifty Years is Enough Campaign. Now with AFLCIO "Solidarity" in DC, does great global work Economic Literacy for Women. Suzy
