Sorry about my absence from the board, I didn't know until recently that Al's site had moved. Good to see it up and running, putting out the usual good info and good to see other ex-Seattleites up north. The GF and I will be doing phonebanking this week and through October but if anybody else is trying to put together any other sort of fundraising, door-to-door type activities, etc. just let me know, I'll try make myself available. Except for this Saturday, 9/27, that's the Bellingham Comic Con, have to go to that! But still, lots of activities up here through Whatcom Democrats and Move On, seeing a lot of involvement which gladdens my heart. Seeing Rossi a couple points ahead of Gregoire, however, less so. Need to work on that, too, I guess. Busy political season!

Just joined, in honor of Al's last 2 posts . . . about the head of the AP, I'm really impressed with Al's ability to mobilize!

We will have live music in the backyard with drinks and food. We are in Redmond. Would love to have other Fieldhands attend.

I met Ian (of the WA group) at the Kirkland 4th of July parade. He is a Fellow so was working hard. It was a blast and crowd was truly Fired Up and Ready to Go!

Darcy Burner

I'm sure most of you have seen that Darcy Burner, running against Dave Reichert in the 8th, lost her house to a fire yesterday. She and her husband apparently have a fair amount of personal money. What she doesn't have right now is enough time to tend to personal business AND raise money for her campaign. So what they are asking folks is to donate to the campaign so that Darcy has time for her personal business. Please consider it. She was really close to beating Reichert 2 years ago and seems poised to win this time.

Hey folks, just got an email from State, which says that Rossi & 27 other Rep's running will NOT allow the word Republican to appear next to their names on the ballot this fall.
Couldn't happen to a better crowd.

Hi folks!
Tara suggested I join up after offering my IT services.
Looking forward to contributing,

To put it kindly, most of the Rep folks I run into over here are pretty 'low information' by choice.

ML - think of it this way...you get to encounter a lot of people whose vote you could actually sway. Most of us down here in Seattle rarely meet a Republican!

I feel like we should be doing more but it is kind of hard with most of us so spread out across the state. I will just say that I formed an event on MyBarackObama to march in the local 4th of July parade. I also have a fundraiser in August with live music (in Redmond) if anyone is interested. Of course, the best folks to hit up for that are those of my friends who will vote for Obama but aren't in so deep that they've already given to the campaign. There are plenty of those folks out there and likely you guys are not in that group or you wouldn't be hanging out here!

Hey Billygoat, I'm an ex-Bellinghamite, living just across Hwy 20 these days but return to Bellingham when I can scrape up enough to pay the fuel price over the hill. Bellingham has a good Drinking Liberally group I hear. I keep missing their get togethers. We're a little notch of liberalism over here surrounded by lots of red leaners. Just saw a big sign going up for Rossi, "Don't let Seattle vote him out again". Sigh.
