You don't need stamps to deliver your ballot to an official drop site. The Oregon Secretary of State web site has links to official drop site locations in every county here: http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/nov42008/dropsites.html

Lane County drop sites are listed here: http://www.co.lane.or.us/Elections/DropOff.htm

You also don't need stamps to deliver your ballot to an unofficial drop site, and I believe you'll find that all the Obama for America offices are maintaining unofficial drop boxes that they deliver to county elections regularly. During the primaries, my local office was providing people who dropped off their ballot there, at least, those who dropped off their ballot early in the process, a sticker announcing "I Already Voted for Obama."

All that being said, I've also read that the USPS standard operating procedure is to deliver election materials sent with insufficient postage.

We are informed by one of the campaigns that Lane County Election ballots REQUIRE TWO STAMPS because they are heavier than usual.

We were also told that a ballot could be returned due to insufficient postage!

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD !! It is obviously very important as ballots are arriving even now.

Hey all,
It seems we're on the "leaning Obama but not secure" list. Check out the Obama website for Oregon GOTV events--there are a lot of them to choose from--and go get people signed up to vote. We can't afford to take anything for granted!!

Hey, Oregonians,
Talk to your friends and invite them to talk to their friends
and vote Jeff Merkley IN to our open U.S. Senate seat and
give Obama a Democratic congress.

Hi. I'm near McMinnville, sort of halfway if you like to take really slow backroads. Nice to meet you in your 2-D uncarnations.

By the way, this Fieldhands Ning site is not connected with the Rural Votes site, it is an independent service, so we can hang out here as long as we like.
