Fieldhands

For readers of The Field, to gather face to face

I'd love to get a list going of where us Field Hands Abroaders are based - I know sme of you have written this on the wall, but maybe it'd be good to have them all in one discussion

I'm from the UK, I live in Devon and work half the time in London.
Any other brits here?
Any other Europeans?
How many of you are US expats?

Cheers,
Pete x

Hi Mr H (Pete), I'm not any of the above, being a Canadian citizen living in Victoria, British Columbia. I'm really happy that our group has such a diversity of members, though that means we're not online at the same time and won't be arranging a meetup! Been reading the Field since January, wow, it has been a trip, and we're only partway through the pre-convention process...

Maybe we can set up a few different times when we are all most likely to be online to have a live discussion from time to time?

No, yes, no or in longer form not British and not a US expat. Just the odd Dane wondering excactly how I ended up here and on the Field.

I tracked my first comment on the Field, so I know that I found it on February 8th and I have been an avid follower since. As nancy said it has been quite some ride particularly at the height of the primary season. Now I am waiting for the season to begin again in earnest in September.

I think before noon in the US is usuably a workable time that would be 6-9 hours later here - and hopefully not too late in India. Not sure how to handle the 'hands downunder.

I'm a US citizen married to a Brazilian and living in Recife, Brazil (5 years running). She is a dual citizen and we both continue to vote in the US elections.

I started following Al and The Field sometime around the Wisconsin primary and have been hooked ever since. I've started to read up on his Latin American reporting at Narco News and really feel like I've been missing out on some excellent analysis.

Live discussion would be fun, but there's no time that would really work for me. I generally post a little bit while at work, but can't do anything extensive, and I've got two small children at home, so I've rarely any time to log in at all then.

Although an avid follower of the Field for a long time, I've just joined as a Field Hand now. As a German living in The Hague, Netherlands (for work and because my wife is from here), I get this "US-election-addiction" every four years. And no idea why, as apart from politics and two holiday visits as a child and a couple of US friends, I've no ties across the Atlantic. But as the son of a politician I'm extremely interested in politics myself and as such get hooked every four years long before the start of the primaries. And honestly, in all these years, nowhere did I find such an extremely good analysis as on the Field. So yep, there I am.
Now onto the exploration of this forum!

Dual citizen US/Canada. Originally from St. Louis, MO. Living in Halifax, NS. Spent about half my life in each country. For a long time only kept the US citizenship for pragmatic reasons (easier to enroll in my PhD, ease of travel in to see family) but this campaign got me connected again with that part of my identity. I'd even think about moving back, oh, wait, health care...
