Fieldhands

For readers of The Field, to gather face to face

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if any of you have requested and received a refund of monies donated to send Al to Denver? I politely made my request like others did a couple of days ago; giving the required information, but have received no reply or refund. I am concerned this is a matter of ignoring those outside the US jurisdiction.
What do you think?

I have yet to get a reply nor a refund. I sent my request the day after we learned of the new field, which was last Friday. I don't know if Deb has put geographical locations with all the names, but I don't suspect a conspiracy yet, just an unwillingness to give back in a rapid fashion for all. I will give her another week to respond, then I will send a more stern e-mail.

I suggest we wait and give DK the benefit of the doubt, but if nothing is forthcoming we should contact our Departments/Ministries of Foreign Affairs and ask them to contact relevant authorities in the USA on our behalf.

I just got a refund notice from Paypal - so I'm satisfied.

Deb & I have been e-mailing back and forth since last saturday about my refund. She wants to do it by check, which would take weeks to clear for me in India. I want her to transfer the money to Al or to the Fund for authentic journalism or at least credit back to my credit card. I don't know how it is going to turn out in the end.

I've sent Deb two emails and have received no reply. I sent a cheque for $100 and it was cashed before I could stop payment. I wouldn't mind getting a check back, or even if the money was passed on to Al. But it's highly unethical to solicit funds for one purpose and then not use it for that.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Nancie, you and I are in the same city/province/country and neither of us have received replies. Things that make you go hmmmm....

Dorey, if you paid through Paypal or by credit card you can apparently dispute the charge based on misrepresentation or whatever. If by check, I think you're dependent on what Deb decides to do. If she does refund a check she has to cut a check herself; this would take longer under the best of circumstances.

I hope you get your money back. I was fortunate to 1) pay through Paypal and 2) ask for my refund on the 15th, before a lot of people had even discovered what had happened. I got my refund notice from Paypal the same day. Then went right in and donated it right back to narconews.

Heads up.

Al has started a fundriser @ The Field for "send & equip Al for Denver".

Target $ 7400.

Refund Update: Deb has e-mailed me saying my refund check is on a slow boat to India.
