Hey ya'll! What does everybody thing about the Obama DOJ asking for the Binyam Muhammad rendition/torture lawsuit to be squashed on grounds of State Secrecy? I think it's time for us all to move, as a society, to figure out a less piecemeal way to deal with the Bush Administration's legacy of torture. We need a Truth, Accountability, and Reconciliation Movement before this wound festers much more. I think the Obama Administration will profit mightily if it develops a Truth, Accountability, and Reconciliation Policy about the Bush Torture Regime--it's time to wrap it up. I am no more deathly afraid of terrorists than I am of Jacques Chirac's dog Sumo. We can handle these guys with good old humane policework--they would sing like contented canaries at the Smart Interrogation teaparties I'd throw 'em in prison! "President Bush, move over, I'm in charge of the war!" in the immortal words of the rapper Ghostface Killah.

So, gang... fired up? Ready to go?

We have a little over 24 hours to publicize tomorrow's event among our friends, allies and colleagues.

Please download the flyer-poster from The Field, and email it to all your local and regional lists.

And if you can even imagine making another phone call for as long as you live, please dial up the organizers you know and get them to the event.

And, of course, we're counting on Chicago Field Hands to come out for a drink or two afterward to celebrate our mutual accomplishment!

I sent an email to Dick Kay at CPT radio regarding the event and asked him to contact Al if he is interested in an interview, and asked him to join us for the night. Also sent a PSA to them, we can see if they will read it.

I am down here in Vigo County, IN working out of the Obama headquarters on Poplar and 4th Street. We are in charge of canvassing the whole city.

We did excellent yesterday and Saturday, but today we are EMPTY. This is the nation's leading bellweather county and we have almost no one out today. If we win IN, we win the election.

I know you are in touch with a lot of people. If you get a chance, maybe you could mention this to people. Any volunteers looking to drive in to IN, please send them our way.

Things seem to be going well here, and we hope that if we can keep up the numbers we can hold the line in western IN.

Micah Sifrey of TechPresident.com will also be joining us and sharing a few words at the event!

He's been really forward thinking from the beginning of the campaign and will address the role of the Internet and offer some suggestions for the next steps.

Okay, here's the drill for the DePaul event (and we've got our own very cool flyer-poster ready to roll as soon as we have an address/room number for the event):

7 p.m. Tara Brownlee will introduce Nate Silver

7:07 p.m. Nate Silver will introduce me and talk about what just happened

7:20 p.m. I will talk for 40 minutes

8 p.m. Audience participation

8:40 Chicago Field Hands that have something to add should contact me in advance so we can make sure you get heard.

8:50 p.m. Summation by Sean Quinn

9 p.m.: We head off to a party somewhere. (Would anybody be willing to host it at your home? Otherwise, please suggest a nearby watering hole.)

I have a hotel reservation nearby, but Sean Quinn and Brett Marty of 538.com need couches to crash on. They're really great and polite guys, so please open up your home to them.

Great job guys...what is next? Only a week away.

Once we get the address info a flyer (did Al make this and post?) to send around, and radio. I did notice that Dick Kay was hosting an election night event for CPT radio. it is posted here:

Who knows the best way to get on Al on the radio? I noticed they have a place to submit events for CPT announcments, I will be happy to do that.
