Sunday November 9 debrief

Hey yall. Thanks for coming out. Please use this space to share any ideas on next steps. One step is for everyone to meet with your teams, if you know them.

A challenge discussed at our table was what kinds of communications were appropriate outside the structure of the Obama organization.

Something I've been thinking about is an old school style beer drinking reading group around ideas that are central to our collective thinking to ensure that we stay in touch. Constance and Justin were discussing Pierre Levy's Collective Intelligence.

Other more action-oriented ideas are of course worth highlighting :). I know that Ben had some really great clearly actionable ideas tonight.

I unfortunately had to miss the Sunday meeting. Any brief synopsis available?

Meeting with my team won't be a problem, I still have almost all of them on speed dial. I was hoping to see some of them there Sunday, but unfortunately ended up not being able to make it myself.

When's the next meeting I suppose would be my second question after knowing details of what was decided?

Hey Michael!

Nothing was really decided en masse. Well, other than that this will continue. With about 100 people, it was tough to do.

Right now, JD's strategy is to continue working with the Obama Field organization structure to figure out what is next. It looks like mybo is staying online (like people have said). It looks like the campaign intends to use the structure to forward its agenda (like throwing 11 million email addresses a message asking them to call on behalf of the campaign). The more I think about this possibility I just kind of laugh out loud at what we may have created here. Let's hope it just grows. I'd expect more to come from JD in the upcoming days.

There was a commitment to not fracture and fight each other. Everyone has the right to go and pursue what they want and to keep everyone informed of their progress, and to enlist others in their efforts.

Other pre-existing groups had things that they're doing. One encouraging thing was a progressive Wisconsin conference in the spirit of Fightin Bob.

As for the Fieldhands, there is talk about us working in concert with the more formal campaign, as well as our teams. So, like bringing Al here, there might be things we want to do that "agitate" conversation more than the campaign itself is necessarily promoting. I think a goal is to start sharing lists of names, emails, and addresses collected at events like these to start.

Even more locally, a lot of us are pursuing agendas that get kids involved in community organizing kinds of activities using media in after school settings.

Justin got a lot of good tape of the event so we have that too. I'd **really** love to hear other impressions of the event!
